A weekend of warm weather could not have come at a better time. After our extended stay in balmy Loozyanna, we returned to wet, gray cold. Let's just say our wardrobes are confused. Last week was relatively low-key as we recuperated from our trip (both the stay and the drive). One highlight was Peter's first soccer practice and game. As we all know Peter isn't a joiner, so we are hoping for more enthusiasm as the season progresses.

But doesn't he look so cute?!

Hardly left his coach's side the whole time he was on the field
We spent all weekend outside - sliding, running, pretending, swinging, splashing, crawling and generally getting incredibly dirty. As in clothes ruined, shoes in the washing machine, strip 'em at the back door kind of dirty. As I always say, you know it has been a fun day when the bath water turns gray.

After getting soaked at the water table, we decided it's easier just to let them go au natural. Vitamin D, right?
|
After pushing this wagon all day Saturday, Davis decided on Sunday that he'd prefer to be a passenger. He cries when we go back inside because he loves to crawl around the backyard with Chief. Those two are going to be best buds.

This kid's gears are always turning. At this moment, he was probably pondering how the shin guard was built into his soccer sock. Or maybe he was questioning why a pedal is called a pedal. These are the types of conversations we have daily.

These boys are so different that even bystanders at breakfast pegged them within fifteen minutes: Peter's the quiet, more meticulous and more intense one (quiet until you get him in the car) while Davis loves attention, isn't very detail-oriented and doesn't mind mess. That about covers it. Fortunately, both boys are extremely curious and I love that about them. They just go about their exploration in very different ways. Now that I think about it, Hayes and I are each so different from our siblings while at the same time we are all so alike. Hopefully the boys got the best of both Young and Bryant. As long as they don't act like Hayes and Geoffrey as teenagers, I think I may just survive them yet. Ha!
