Lots of cycling time, especially on the big wheels.

| A rare moment of brotherly love. I crack up seeing how the train track, Sophie the giraffe and Tow Mater are all so close. These boys love their phases. |

| Peekaboo! |

Peter had a sleepover with Aunt Callie last weekend so Davis got to have a date with Mommy and Daddy. He chose Chili's, mostly for the chips and guacamole. Shockingly, he still managed to eat his quesadilla and broccoli. With guac, of course.
Then came the weather. Oy. I don't watch the weather much because they don't offer it on PBS or Disney Junior, so I was more than surprised to hear that middle Tennessee was expecting tornado activity in January. Tuesday night, 3am, high winds woke me and Hayes to no electricity and we could vaguely hear tornado sirens in the distance. The sirens are faint because of our position in a valley. Almost immediately after our eyes met, we heard a loud crack. We jumped out of bed, grabbing our phones and attempting to wake the boys with urgency but not fear. We made our way downstairs to the "storm room" and crawled into bed together while the boys calmly and bravely asked questions. After an hour or so, the warning was lifted and we spent another hour getting the boys back to sleep. Unbeknownst to me at this time, Hayes had stepped outside to see this:

That's our bedroom window you can see through the branches. The power line caught the tree, which is why we lost power but also possibly the reason that it didn't crash through the roof. Guess that reveals the source of the big cracking sound. Fortunately, Hayes finagled the cars out so we could get to school and work. The power company came with big trucks, much to Davis's delight, and fixed the problem before lunch. A very dedicated friend came over that night with a chainsaw and together, he and Hayes removed (almost) all evidence of that tree. The boys really do love the stump.
What else the storm left behind was twigs. Limbs, branches, sticks and twigs all over the place. I enlisted the boys' help because the driveway was covered with some pretty hefty "ticks."

And then it snowed. Matty's first snow!

Just a dusting, but enough to get excited looking out the window. Nothing ominous. Then upon arrival at school, we realized that school had been cancelled. Apparently there was some ice on the road? Major fail. These kids needed school. Who am I kidding - this mama needed the boys to have school.
So instead we spent the day playing outside in spurts, attempting to sled (not gonna happen), and I somehow managed a trip to Target with all three boys. I haven't attempted such a feat in months. It went much more smoothly this time, but I certainly won't plan to do it again for a while. Not that smoothly!
Then Saturday, while the boys were having their donut date with Hayes, it began snowing again. A lot. Way more than Thursday night. Again we attempted the toboggan/sled/disc thingy (c'mon, I grew up in Louisiana!) to no avail. But we did find an icicle!!

Only Peter, Mr. "I never get cold so I refuse to wear pants" would choose a tee shirt when it's snowing. But it is his favorite! Can't imagine why. :)
And lastly, I ask you to join me in a moment of silence. You know that blissful period when a baby sits still and plays but can't exactly get around? Yeah, Matthew's skipping sitting all together. Ain't nobody got time for that.
I know. Bless my heart.
