Here comes Peter Cottontail...

We have leaves!!!

…or perhaps it’s Davis’s bare bum we’re seeing wiggling around the yard, because this child sure loves to be naked. In the midst of a few busy weeks, we’ve muddled through a hefty amount of rain (and the subsequent cabin fever) all balanced out by several beautiful days spent outside. One popular activity was hunting Easter eggs. I tried to be the hider instead of the seeker, as Peter’s hiding was less than climactic.

After several holidays spent in Nashville, we ventured down to the lakehouse on Good Friday to take advantage of the long weekend and a change of scenery. This was Davis’s first visit as a pedestrian, so he had a whole new perspective on the entire house. Suffice it to say that Davis is a tad more daring than Peter was at this age. Hills, cliffs and two story falls don’t faze him in the least. The silver lining: he rolled down his first hill. Several face plants and belly flops didn’t get in his way; he fell in love with the place and even slept well away from home. He cut the last of his molars this weekend and some bicuspids are peeking out as well. He’s going to look like a whole different kid in a few months.
A) He has been chewing on everything! B) Would you look at those fingers covered in mud? (Peter would be crying.)

Amidst all of the belly flops and face plants, Peter spent a lot of time on the dock admiring Boopah’s new woodwork and begging to go swimming. He settled for a few boat rides, but he was not thrilled about sharing first mate status with the newest member of the crew. Instead, he opted to give Boopah his orders.

"Full speed ahead, Captain Boopah!"

Still keeping a lookout for Captain Hook

"When can we go back to South Carolina, Mommy?"
Right at home - didn't seem to mind the life jacket at all.

I'm the king of the world!

Easter morning was a bit fragmented with Peter waking at 5am to see the loot. Hayes and Reenie were at a sunrise service so they got to see Davis play with his loot after a more reasonable wake up. The most exciting treasure was not the chocolate bunny (such a rarity in this house - I'd eat it) but a toy microphone just like on the "Sid the Science Kid" cartoon. Big hit. Davis got Cheerios, bananas, animal crackers, bubbles, books and puzzles. All he wanted was the bag of animal crackers - as soon as he ripped it, he left the crackers and played with the bag.

A lovely weekend in a lovely place with lovely company. Way too many jellybeans (on Peter's list for next Easter) and yumminess - and more to come. This weekend we head to Dallas for a wedding and then the boys and I are goin' ranchin' out in Texas in Nanny and Mr. Tommy. (Honestly, I don't know who's more excited.) Flying with both children - fortunately not alone. Pray for us.
