Peter had a great time at the pumpkin patch yesterday. He was dressed like a spider, but he was more interested in rolling over into the grass than anything else.





He was sporting a very stylish set of footie PJs for the trip. Happy Halloween!

Peter took advantage of the Crimson Tide's week off to rest up for the big game next Saturday against LSU's Bayou Bengals. In fact, he has continued to rest up very well, and we are happy to be getting some sleep ourselves.






Peter is excited about Halloween coming up this week. He has a lot of dimensional similarities with a pumpkin, you know. Mom picked him out a very scary costume; so get your candy ready!

It's been a banner day here at the Bryant house! Not only did the little man sleep for 12 hours last night, but Mommy and Daddy also got 8 solid hours of uninterrupted sleep. It may not happen again for a few years, but it was quite a treat.

Peter is growing up so fast!

Peter, ever the traveler, spent the weekend in Bluffton, South Carolina, with his Reenie's family. Yes, the pictures above are real...it's that beautiful. It was the first time any of them had met Peter, and he put on quite a show for everyone.

After arriving late on Thursday night, Peter spent Friday afternoon playing with his cousins Bryce and Quinn. Bryce was a very big help with Peter.

Hayes put in a hard day's work with a few appointments on Friday, and after he got home, there was plenty of wood to chop (literally).

Later that night, Pop Kennedy hosted a small party for everyone in the family to meet Peter. We shared a scrumptious menu of steamed oysters, elk sausage, thick steaks, baked potatoes, and salad. Peter posed for pictures with Reenie to commemorate the occasion.

On Saturday morning, Hayes and Grampa (Bryant) played golf with Uncle Don at May River Golf Club at Palmetto Bluff, and Sarah checked out the outlet malls. [editor's note: Hayes finally quit talking about the golf course when we got back to Nashville.] Bryan, Leslie, and Quinn came over to hang out, and Pop Kennedy and Aunt Trisha joined us as well.

Quinn gave him a supportive pat on the shoulder as if to say, "don't worry, one day you'll be as big as me!" We all had a great time watching the Alabama Crimson Tide help the University of Tennessee athletic department make a decision

on coach Fulmer's contract (Roll

Tide!). Thanks to Reenie and all the aunts, Sarah and Hayes were able to sneak away for a date to a movie.

What a treat!

Sunday morning was a rush to get everyting packed up for the trip home, but we had a group of farewell visitors; so, we decided to take more pictures!

Sometimes the grumpies come on pretty quickly.

Peter recently spent two whole weeks with his Nanny in Lafayette, Louisiana. I am not sure who had more fun, but we did manage to capture a few pictures of him and a few people.




Nanny talked to him all the time, and he got to the point that he would turn to look at her from across the room if she was talking to someone else.





Aunt Myra and Uncle Sonny had Peter over a couple of times. Peter can't wait to get his hands on some "silver bells" the next time that he is there!

Peter is six weeks old today! He's begun smiling at us, but as soon as we bring out the camera, he's not interested in any of our antics. Hopefully we will be able to catch his little grin very soon. We've been spending lots of time outside listening to the bugs and watching the leaves blow on the trees. He's fascinated by the contrasting colors so we are all looking forward to the fall foliage. Well, that, and getting regular sleep!

Aunt Callie came to see Peter this weekend. An extra pair of arms is always a big help, especially when they're soft and loving.

Last Saturday morning Hayes and I took Peter on a walk on the new greenway trail through Nashville. It was an overcast day, but the cool air was a welcome relief.

Hayes made sure to take a detour through a fairway that is being worked on at a local golf course. As you can imagine, that had NOTHING to do with him picking this part of the greenway for our walk!

I was home for lunch and took some movies of Peter for everyone to see. He likes to look at everything. It cracks me up when he tries to look at the end of his own nose, and his eys cross. In this video he makes some cute coos and other noises. The hum or rattle you hear is from the vibrating seat that he's in.

ROAD TRIP! Peter had his first road trip over Labor Day weekend - we visited Reenie and Grandpa in Birmingham. He was quite a trooper: he traveled well and even managed to last the whole trip down without so much as a peep. He did, however, keep his mommy laughing with his facial expressions. He evidently dreams as vividly as his daddy. Once we arrived, he got lots of kisses and hugs from his grandparents. His great Aunt Shirley and Uncle Son were there to greet him, as well.


He took a picture at 3 weeks old in an outfit his daddy wore when he was 10 weeks old... a growing boy, indeed!


After a weekend full of college football, he even got to see Aunt Callie and meet his cousin Casey (a yellow lab).

Reenie gave Peter a bath at her house over Labor Day weekend.

Peter had a big day today! Not only did he have his Nanny and Uncle Geoffrey in town to see him, but Reenie and Grampa came to visit, too! When they got here, he was all washed up and wearing a blue day gown that his Daddy used to wear. He even gave his best smile for Reenie!

Reenie and Grampa snuck quietly into the house, but THEY were the ones surprised. Peter was having his lunch, and he wasn't expecting visitors just then. When he finished up, Grampa put his expert burping skills to the test. We tried a few different techniques, and determined that neither was more effective than the other, but one is definitely more entertaining for us!

Peter must have changed hands at least a hundred times, but he kept his cool throughout. He really does enjoy being held tightly and warmly, and he enjoys "putting his spell" on unsuspecting people. He kept Uncle Geoffrey asleep for at least thiry minutes.


Nanny and Uncle Geoffrey won't be here too much longer (unfortunately!); so, we made sure to take a few family portraits. Hayes even managed to keep the number of pictures below 20!

Happy Two-Week Birthday, Peter! We've had a great week and seem to be getting into a groove. Peter has begun cooing and his smiles, however accidental, are becoming more frequent. He loves to spend his early mornings on the porch with Nanny looking at all the trees and listening to Good Morning America. His facial expressions keep us in stitches, especially when he's concentrating on something he sees.


Uncle Geoffrey had made the trip to Nashville a few weeks ago in hopes of being present for Peter's birth, but missed the big event by mere hours. He quickly made arrangements to return so he could meet his nephew. This image captures the first meeting between Peter and his Parrain (French for Godfather and an Acadian tradition), and it was clear very early that they were both taken with each other. Mommy is constantly having to stop Geoffrey from waking Peter to play.





Family and friends have sent Peter really beautiful keepsakes and clothing. This is one of many new blue items that fill the nursery closet. We dressed him up to meet his uncle - isn't he handsome? If only Mommy were able to drive and take him somewhere...

We had a cold front come through Nashville this weekend, and it was just under 80* early in the morning on Saturday. So, we took advantage and hung out on the back porch for a few hours. Peter was very well behaved and let his father take a few thousand pictures. Here are a few that came out well.






Peter put on quite a show for us with different facial expressions. Hayes was able to catch a cute yawn while Peter rested in his Nanny's arms.








He really likes to hang out where ever the crowd is. Outside he got to listen to the buzzing cicadas and chirping birds. There's one bird that says, "Peter, Peter, Peter!" that his grandfather told him about.
