every so often the nashville comes out

We have new neighbors! A young family just moved in a few houses down and they have a 3 year old girl and a 6 week old boy. Yay! (Most of our neighborhood contains folks who have lived here for 40 years, thus the excitement over a young family.)

So now that the dust is settling with our new baby boys, they came over this evening for playtime and gumbo. Fun, right?

The big boys were holy terrors. I am specifically referring to their refusal to mind authority and inability to demonstrate the meaning of the word "gentle." I was called to nursing duty halfway through so Hayes took over hosting duty. In those 30 minutes, the following occurred:

*Dinner needed tending to - pronto
*The boys, the boys, the boys...
*Davis had 3 potty training fails in a row - the bad kind
*2 crying fits
*Chief ran away (dead battery in his collar)

All of this happens to poor Hayes during the mother of all allergy attacks - sneezing constantly and nose running like crazy.

And I was in the bedroom watching the red carpet coverage for the Emmys without a clue that it was all happening.

For a while there, we were living in a country music song. Good thing we live in Nashville. Next song, please!
